The focus of Innovate Africa Challenge on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Climate Action” is to support the creation of more initiatives at the intersection of climate action and AI, democratise AI and promote local AI innovation for sustainable development in Ghana, Rwanda and Kenya. Its objective is to foster innovative uses of AI to mitigate the impacts of climate change and/or to support climate adaptation efforts in the African continent, while strengthening the AI and start-up ecosystem.
The programme is run by Intellecap with the support of Smart Africa, FAIR Forward, Intel Liftoff, GIZ and Climate Change AI.
We are pleased to announce that in May 2024 we were selected as 1 of 16 teams to progress through their 2024 programme. In November 2024 we placed 2nd in the final pitch and proposal competition!

NjordFrey placed 2nd place out of 18 finalists! This was following an extensive review process by GIZ and an array of AI and sector experts. We look forward to using the AI support and knowledge gained to continue developing our AI capabilities to improve agriculture production for millions of farmers.
